Fractured Light

Llona Reese lives life on the run, moving every few years to keep her and her uncle Jake safe. She is an Aura, a vessel for Light, and the enemy of Auras are the Vykens - the same enemy that killed her parents. She has been running from them her whole life, but once she finally makes friends her senior year, she refuses to run any longer. Light is pure, used for charity and to make others feel good, but Llona intends to break the rules and use Light as a weapon.

Fractured Light sounds really good and it had a lot of potential but it just did not do it for me. The story interested me and so did the new and original concept of Auras and Vykens. There were a few twists that were cool and the characters, especially Llona and her love interest, Christian, were interesting and fun to read. I also really liked Llona’s good friends May and Matt.

I was reading the eARC version of Fractured Light and I know mistakes and formatting issues are to be expected, but I felt like there were still too many mistakes. There were word mistakes such as “were” instead of “where”, “their” instead of “there”, and “loose” instead of “lose”. Also, a character who started off as Lander suddenly became Landon and then went back again. Of course, I am confident that the errors will be fixed in the finished copies.

I liked Fractured Light enough to keep reading it, but the mistakes really got to me.

Recommended for young adult fans of fantasy and paranormal novels, if you want to try it. There are plenty of people out there who loved this book, so still give it a try if the synopsis interests you.
